CRI delivered a series of four training programs at the headquarters of the African Development Bank (AfDB) in Abidjan, Côte d'Ivoire; between October 2019 and March 2020. The program's theoretical and practical components were specially designed to build and strengthen the capacity of the AfDB staff to achieve the Bank's core mandate of financing development projects in Africa. Each of the four capacity building programs constituted a single module of the Program on Investment Appraisal and Risk Analysis (PIAR).

The first module was conducted from the 7th- 11th of October 2019 and focused on the financial analysis of projects. The module covered various topics and techniques used in the financial appraisal of infrastructure projects. The module specifically focused on the application of investment appraisal to health, water, infrastructure for education, and hydro dam projects. The module also dealt with how to integrate environmental impacts into cost-benefit analysis, economic aspects of foreign financing, the economic opportunity cost of capital as well as the economic opportunity cost of labour. The training program was concluded with the fourth module, which focused on the core elements of project finance as well as the risk assessment of infrastructure projects. Similar to the mode of delivery of the previous modules, the fourth module which was held between the 2nd and 6th of March 2020, was delivered using lectures, practical case studies, and interactive discussion sessions among the participants and facilitators.
